Girard Plante

    Girard A. Plante's journalism career began in 1983 as he wrote editorials and a Media column for his hometown newspaper in Utica, New York. He has written for daily newspapers, weeklies, and several newsletters. Currently, he freelances with Bookbuilders of Boston, and the publications unit of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.
    Plante actively participates with the Disability Policy Consortium, a nonprofit that advocates for persons with disabilities, elderly folks, and homeless population across the Commonwealth He also is a member of the Newton Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities.
    The 45-year-old Plante earned a BA in Journalism from Utica College of Syracuse University. He resides in Newton.
